It’s Getting Dark Outside
Here we are descending into the dark time of the year. November tugs on my need to nest. I remember enjoying last fall and winter, getting into my comfortable clothing early, feeling pulled to the solace I find in creative endeavors. Last year I needle felted three animals, a giraffe, bunny and a donkey. It all started when I saw a needle felted giraffe at a craftsmen’s fair. I loved it. The giraffe stayed with me. Three years later I did some research, reminded myself I was talented and purchased a kit to make my own giraffe.
The giraffe was a great success. I wanted to keep going so I purchased a kit to make a donkey. I remember telling Dena I had spent all of one Saturday just making the head of the donkey. She laughed and commented on how cool it was. We creative folk understand how and why someone would spend hours needle felting a donkey head.
Finally, I made a bunny and the bunny is so cute.
Some of you may be wondering why I am not giving you an update on my weaving journey. Well, here is the update. We have been so busy here at Vermont Weaving Supplies that we haven’t had the time to get back to the business of me learning how to weave. We spent summer and fall working on the Summer Sungold kit and integrating the content on the Podia website to this website. All so we can give our customers a better experience with our products and educational content.
That being said, it doesn’t mean I am not thinking of all of you out there weaving. In fact that is what inspired this blog post. I know this year, right now, going inside, calming my mind is important. I’m ready to be inside creating. I hope all of you are weaving and enjoying the flow that comes with it. A peaceful state of mind, found doing creative things isn’t frivolous. Sometimes craft isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.
