CHOOSING Yarn
Yarn is the canvas in weaving
Each yarn that we carry is chosen because we love to work with it.
I have been weaving for 35 years and in that time, the quality, consistency, color range, and availability of weaving yarns has dramatically increased.
We are lucky to have so many amazing yarns available.
Yarns We Carry
Brassard 8/2 Cotton
1680 yds per half pound tube
Great for home textiles such as napkins, dishtowels, tablecloths. Good for sturdy, lighter-weight fabrics for handsewn clothing.
For rigid heddle looms, use doubled or with two heddles. All 81 colors available.
Note: You can mix cotton and cottolin—one as warp, the other as weft—but I generally do not combine them in a warp or in a weft due to difference in rates of shrinkage.
Brassard 8/2 Cottolin
1680 yds per half pound tube
Same weight as 8/2 cotton. Slightly more durable. Feels a little more crisp.
