Weaving Color Aids
In an ideal world, we would be able to look, touch, rearrange, and look again at our yarns before deciding what to purchase.
Designing is play time for me. I pull many yarns off the shelves, arrange them on the floor, pull out colors, put other colors in. Sometimes I take them outside or move them around the house to see them in different light. And I make a mess while doing it.
Many of us don’t have the luxury of shopping for yarn in person, especially right now. Because of this, the shop includes several Color Aid resources to help you see the yarns in different ways.
Look around, spend some time, enjoy the process. And let us know if there are things we can do to help guide you on your way.
Overview
The Choosing Color page explains different considerations and approaches around using color in your weaving.
Brassard
Brassard family photos and curated color combination pages show how colors relate to other colors and include suggested combinations to get you started. All Brassard photos include color numbers for easier reference. If you are going to be using the Brassard color lines a lot, I suggest you purchase a color card with yarn samples of each color.
Malabrigo
There are groups of photos for each of the Malabrigo lines that we carry on the Malabrigo Colors page. Each Malabrigo photo includes the tag with the color name for reference.
