Rep Weave Placemats
Project #5
The Colors
Rep Weave Placemats
This month we are exploring rep weave. These are made using a dense sett, alternating warp colors, and alternating thick and thin weft yarns.
I love the burnt orange and gold, but you can substitute any three colors. The kit includes two tubes of weft color. While the projects for four and eight shaft looms look identical, the threading and treadling are different. You can weave placemats, table runners, or both.
Our Weaving Project
Note about yarn: We are currently in the process of rewriting the rigid-heddle pattern to use 8/4 cotton instead of 8/2 cotton and changing the kit to include three tubes of finer cotton (8/2 or 8/4) and one tube of 16/8 cotton. After walking hundreds of weavers through this project, we feel that this will work better. The price increase, and the difference in price between the rigid-heddle project and the four and eight-shaft project reflect these changes.
Timing for kit changes: We began working on the change on January 24 and will have the new pattern ready by January 30. If you purchase the pdf download for this project between these two dates, we will email you the redesigned project as soon as it is ready.
