Balerion’s Lair

This post is all about my cats. And the rag rugs.

I have two cats, Ser Pounce and Balerion. They are brothers. Sweet, good natured, and at peace with each other.

It all starts with Ser Pounce and Balerion pretending to be fast asleep. While this is happening, I decide that I need a rug on the living room floor and go grab a rag rug that I made years ago but never used.

Balerion immediately takes to it. Not shown is his purring and then wrapping himself up in the rug. Notice the other interested party in the top right corner of the photo, patiently waiting his turn.

Oh good. Balerion has gotten distracted and left. Ser Pounce plants himself on the rug, but he is a bit nervous about the ramifications of his actions.

Balerion pounces and they fight. A rare occurrence in this kitty world.

Oh but wait, what was that noise?

Nothing I guess, back to the business at hand.

And Balerion has reigned supreme. His kingdom is once again secure.

Addendum: Ser Pounce, after two months, finally gets his chance when a set of new samples appears. Because…who would have ever expected that a cat would not be drawn to handwovens sitting in a basket?
