I CONFESS

There is no way around it anymore. I cannot continue to pretend. I have to confess.

My studio is a disaster. Sometimes my house is also. The truth is, I would much rather weave than clean and I can put up with a lot of chaos before my brain starts short circuiting.

Maybe you are looking at the picture above and thinking…really, it’s not so bad. Just know, that this is the studio after I cleaned it. And from different angles, it looks worse, believe me.

I have always tried to clean it well before students come, but I haven’t had a class here in 15 months and it is showing.

I made some videos last month. I cleaned the living room and hid a bunch of stuff behind the couch, where I hoped it wouldn’t show. But that is not really sustainable because I want to make a lot of videos of everything I can, and if I try to keep up the illusion that my studio is lovely and pristine, that’s a whole lot less time that I will have to tell you everything about weaving that I want you to know.

So I think I am moving my videos back into my studio and I am hoping that you don’t get distracted by the random stuff in the background, and I especially hope that you don’t judge me for it. Because I think I am going to be a much better teacher if I let you see what is really going on.

And maybe we can even give each other some extra permission to show the mess. Because I am guessing I am not the only one.
