Bursts of Color, Bursts of Inspiration!
It seems to be a habit of mine. It starts with a small idea or inspiration, I add a little, I add a little more, and then somehow it all seems to suddenly explode. I don’t necessarily think this is a bad thing, I certainly seem to get a lot done, but it does seem to make that calm and predictable life that I believe I crave always just a bit out of reach.
It is the energy of spring. For me, living in Vermont, the beginning of spring can feel like a shock. I treasure the darker times of the year, the times that can feel slow and almost dreamlike. The call to reemerge into a big and bright world sometimes feels like someone turned on a bright light in the middle of the night. It is blinding…difficult at a time when so many are feeling like celebrating.
This one started with me and Amy brainstorming about a spring promotion. We were thinking that we would have a sale of two colorways that were inspired by spring…and then it grew. All of a sudden we were talking weave-a-long, prizes, online content and forums, new lessons, big promotion, and everything else.
This might be a one time thing, or this might be a whole new direction for Vermont Weaving. I love the weaving clubs and I will continue with them with every bit of love and energy that I have, but I also recognize that I want to work with more weavers on design skills…the theoretical and inspirational…where do ideas come from? How can I start when there is nothing?…and the practical…I have an idea but I don’t know how to turn it into a project.
And it feels right in every possible way. Except that my bookkeeping still needs to happen.
